Week 14 | Design for a Cause

This was incredibly hard to do. I had a hard time making an idea work. I did one other but just couldn't get it to the way I had in my mind and came back to this. I wanted it to look "easy". I thought of it in terms of maybe something you'd see on a t shirt or bag. I'm happy with how it turned out. I was surprised at how often I went to use white and had to stop myself.

Week 13 | Color

Color Wheel and Scales

I took a slightly different approach to this and I hope that it was okay. I have to say this was one of the most fun things I have done. I'm so proud of how it turned out I'll be framing the pictures later on.

Week 12 | Value Assignment

The hardest part was figuring out what texture to use and what area of it was the right color. This was really fun but pretty hard to do. The thing that bothers me the most is the nose. The white patch is supposed so show the light but it just isn't working.

Week 11 | Illusion of Space and Motion

Linear Perspective
I numbered the different lines I saw in the image. The line of white water helps show the direction the boat  came in and pushes the eye further back. The lines in the sale and shadows along the deck help show depth that otherwise would be harder to see. The line in the horizon also shows a line that helps define the picture.

Overlapping
There are several things in the image that are overlapped. There is also an aerial perspective in the background. The three people in the image are overlapped as well as the mountains in the background.

Aerial Perspective
I found and numbered 6 different levels of color in the mountains that show depth. There is also something that looks like a boulder in the bottom left corner. It should have been numbered as well to show seven levels.
Anticipated Movement
You can see that there is a lot of movement potential in this picture. All of the elephants seem to be moving in some way.

Blurred Outlines
This was taken from a window on a train. There are some shapes that are easy to make out but the rest are pretty blurry and hard to understand.

Figure Cropped
This picture shows a horse running from left to right. Not only can you tell it is moving because of the nature of the image but also because the horse is cropped.

Week 9 | Shape & Volume

I chose a chair and a little cat tent. I liked the shape of the tent with the straight lines of the chair.

Week 8 | Line

1 Contour, 1 Blind Contour, 2 Gestures using Pencil and Marker
I used a spray bottle and my object.
(Tilt the screen to see better. Still trying to figure out the new printer!)

Verbs & Line: Hop, Sit, Shout, Breathe using Ink and Watercolor
Hop shows just a single bump. Sit is flat. Shout shows jagged edges radiating from the bottom. Breathe shows intake and outtake.

Emotions: Anger, Hope, Sadness, Regret using Marker
Anger is jagged and appears sharp and harsh. Hope shows a single spiral that reaches up. Sadness starts flat and drops off. Regret is narrow on the right and becomes wider to the left representing the present and past.
