Week 5 | Balance

This turned out nothing like what I would have liked. There is a lack of interesting kitchen utensils in my house. Most have been melted, burnt, or lost.

I had such large space that I knew there was nothing to be done with them. I think these bother are kind of interesting to look at with the lack of color.

Here's a redo of the second half of my balance assignment

Week 4 | Scale and Proportion Assignment

Finding an images that would work for this assignment was very difficult. I used Photoshop to create this. I changed the finished product to black&white because it made the images blend together more easily. I'm surprised at how they all blend pretty well together.

Week 3 | Emphasis and Focal Point Assignment

Absence of focal point
There is an obvious patter and repetitive nature to the image. There is no focal point for the eye to grab on to.

Emphasis by Placement
The three birds are very similar. The bird on the bottom however is centered in the image.

1
Emphasis by Contrast
The blue chair is a different textile from the cement in the picture. It has a different texture and smooth lines. Not only does the color make the chair draw in the eye but the texture and aesthetic are a great draw as well.

1
One Element
Every square is aligned and exactly the same. The lone black square is off alignment and lacks the same texture as the white squares.

Emphasis by Isolation
This person is dead center in this photo and yet completely isolated from everything. There are things in the distance but nothing up close to him.

Week 2 | Unity Assignment

Unity through Repetition (emphasis on similarity)While there are some slight variations in the fries they all seem to be the same.
Unity through ContinuationThe line along the bottom of the windows flow with the line in the distance. The glare on the windows matches the frame and lines along the floor. The clouds and rocks also align with the horizon.
Unity as chaotic and unreadableThere are many things going on in this image. While some shapes can be made out it is still hard to find a defining point between many of the objects. Lines are blurred and colors see to mesh with one another.
Unity through ProximityThe varied lines, colors, and shapes all unite because of their closeness to one another.

Unity through Repetition (emphasis on variety)Each jar is glass which unites them all. They are all jars and yet the shapes and sizes are different.
Unity and the grid as organizing factorThis image was created in a grid. Each edge is not quite uniform but there is still an obvious grid shape.
Unity using figurative expressionThis painting is of course well-known. The cat added in to the image is unrealistic only because we know it is not a part of the original painting. The painting is figurative still the same because it is based off of a woman that it was modeled after.
Unity as a non-objective expressionThe picture features many different shapes in varied sizes and colors. While they all seem to not be much alike the colors and lines between them add a connection between all.
